STILL WATERS
This tutorial is my own design and any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

It was created in Paint Shop Pro X, but can be realised in other versions.
However, some tool descriptions and locations may vary, but the overall result
should be the same.
You will also need Animation Shop.

You will need the following to complete this tutorial:

Download and extract to a file on your computer then
open in PSP and minimise
You will also need the programme Sqirlz Water Reflections available here
Download and install into your programme files (not in PSP)

INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1
Open a new canvas 800 x 600 transparent background
STEP 2
In the Materials Palette load Foreground with #000000 Black
Select Flood Fill tool and fill layer with Foreground colour #000000 Black
STEP 3
Layers >> New Raster Layer
Selections >> Select All
Maximise image still-waters2-eugene-lushpin.jpg
Edit >> Copy
Minimise original
Edit >> Paste into Selection
Selections >> Select None
Effects >> Image Effects >> Image Offset
STEP 4
Window >> Duplicate
Layers >> Merge >> Merge All (Flatten)
File >> Save As
Name file "still waters"
Save as a jpg to Desktop for use later in the Sqirlz Water Reflections programme
Close image
STEP 5
Return to working on the first image
Layers >> New Raster Layer
Select Flood Fill tool and fill layer with Foreground colour #000000 Black
Layers >> New Mask Layer >> From Image
Select sg_starry-edge-2 from the drop down list
Layers >> Merge >> Merge Group
Effects >> Edge Effects >> Enhance
STEP 6
With Freehand Selection tool lasso stars as indicated below
and DELETE
Effects >> 3D Effects >> Drop Shadow
STEP 7
Maximise tube SvB(598)Beauty.psp
Edit >> Copy
Minimise original
Edit >> Paste as New Layer
Image >> Resize 110%
Resize All Layers UNCHECKED
Effects >> Image Effects >> Offset
Effects >> 3D Effects >> Drop Shadow
STEP 8
Layers >> New Raster Layer
Selections >> Select All
Selections >> Modify >> Contract
Number of pixels = 3
Selections >> Invert
Select Flood Fill tool and fill selection with Foreground #000000 Black
Selections >> Select None
STEP 9
In the Materials Palette
load Foreground with #FAB93B Orange and Background with #FFF075 Yellow
Change Style to Gradient with the following settings
Layers >> New Raster Layer
Selections >> Select All
Selections >> Modify >> Contract
Number of pixels = 3
Selections >> Invert
Select Flood Fill tool and fill selection with gradient
Selections >> Select None
Image >> Resize 98%
Resize all layers UNCHECKED
In the Layers Palette move Raster 5 below Raster 3
STEP 10
Highlight Raster 5 in the Layers Palette
With Freehand Selection tool lasso the part of the
orange border visible on the lady's hat and DELETE
STEP 11
In the Layers Palette highlight Raster 4 (the top layer)
Layers >> New Raster Layer
Selection tool >> Custom Selection
Maximise yp-text-still-waters.pspimage
Edit >> Copy
Minimise original
Edit >> Paste into Selection
Selections >> Select None
Effects >> 3D Effects >> Drop Shadow
STEP 12
Layers >> New Raster Layer
Add your name and/or watermark.
STEP 13
In the Layers Palette make Raster 1 and Raster 2 invisible
Highlight Raster 6 (the top layer)
Layers >> Merge >> Merge Visible
This is what your layer palette should look like now
NOW TO ANIMATE
STEP 14
Open Sqirlz Water Reflections programme
Load image still waters.jpg that was saved earlier
STEP 15
Draw an outline of the area we want to animate (the area between the boats)
To begin, click on the red ellipse at the top of the left-hand tool bar.
Slowly click around the edge of the water as below using the left mouse button.
Finish by clicking the right mouse button.
If you make a mistake or are not happy with your outline, begin again by clicking
on the red ellipse.
STEP 16
Click on the inverted triangle of dots in the top tool bar to set the period of animation
Change the number to 15
STEP 17
Now to customise the appearance of the water reflection
Click on the wavy blue lines on the top tool bar
Change settings as below
When the ""Set Parameters for Basic Ripples" dialogue box opens again, close by clicking
the white "x" in the top right-hand corner.
STEP 18
To choose the Combination of Rain/Snow and Ripples, click on the red "Y" on the top tool bar.
STEP 19
Click on the yellow arrow to run the animation
When the "Choose Combination of Rain/Snow and Ripples" dialogue box opens again, click OK
STEP 20
If you are happy with it, save the animation as a gif by clicking on the red "gif" on the top tool bar.
When the "Choose Combination of Rain/Snow and Ripples" dialogue box appears again, click OK
When the "Save As" dialogue box opens, name your file "still-waters" and save as a gif
When the "Frame Rate" dialogue box opens, make sure the rate is set at 15, click OK
When your animation has been saved, an "Information" dialogue box will appear
confirming that the animation has been saved. Click OK.
STEP 21
Open Animation Shop
Load still-waters.gif (the file saved from Sqirlz)
Edit >> Select All
All 15 frames should be edged in blue
STEP 22
Over to PSP
Make sure Merged layer is highlighted
Edit >> Copy
STEP 23
Back to Animation Shop
Edit >> Paste >> As New Animation
Edit >> Copy
STEP 24
Activate still-waters.gif
Make sure all 15 frames are still selected
Edit >> Propogate Paste
Edit >> Paste >> Into Selected Frame
Make sure image is correctly positioned in the first frame
Click left mouse button
The lady image should be in all 15 frames.
STEP 25
Animation >> Frame Properties
Change this to 15
STEP 26
View >> Animation
If you are happy with the animation,activate the frames
Resize if desired
I resized mine to 700 x 525 pixels
Animation >> Resize Animation
Save as a gif.
